A Handcrafted Life

A Handcrafted Life

On a day like any other scrolling through Instagram, images of beautiful beaches, delicious food, and gorgeous clothing danced across my screen. The more I looked at each perfect picture the duller the image of my life became. When I finally put down my phone I sat silently wishing I was somewhere tropical, with that dress, and that drink, in that life.

But that life is not my life, this is my life. And this life is mine.

What a beautiful thought that each of us are given a life to live, learn, share and grow. The day I was born God perfectly placed me into my family, with my name and gifts and talents destined for me.

Ephesians 2: 8 & 10

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing it is the gift of God…For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago”

What does it mean to be God’s masterpiece?

In my mind, it is the product of being hand crafted by Christ to be uniquely ourselves. Each day we encounter people, beautiful people, masterfully designed to be exactly who they are. God intentionally created humanity with purpose placed in our hearts. We are created by love, for love. Our mission is to recognize that we are loved by God; and in response love others.

So now when I am scrolling through my Instagram feed, I can appreciate each masterpiece God has created. Each person living a life God designed for them. I close my phone, open my eyes and look around with a thankful heart. I have breath in my lungs, love in my heart, and a life to live. In my 21 years of living the one thing that God always reminds me of is, life is about perspective.

On days when I wishfully

Desire the life of another

I am reminded to be thankful

God gave me this path and no other

I look at myself in the mirror

Happy with what I see

Cause although my life’s not perfect

It is perfectly designed for me
