Dance With Him
[Four days after Valentine’s day and just two days after “Singles Awareness Day”.]
As an 18 year, old, female, freshman year of college, and SINGLE student I know exactly the feeling of “I want my person. I want him now and I don’t want to be single any longer.” But being a woman of strong faith, and dependence upon the Lord for my contentment and success; it is a very difficult thing to meet a boy in the college atmosphere who truly and utterly respects every part of you, embraces your boldness, and is determined to lead you in a relationship that will, above all else, support and push your relationship and walk with the Lord.
I set myself up for failure when I began this school year. I was so determined that my husband would just fall into my lap and God would say, “Okay you’re all set!” Boy was I wrong. By having this thought in bright, bold, flashing Hollywood lights I created quite the mess of an adventure for myself. Little did I realize God had something so much greater planned for me.
God has done quite a bit of handy work in me this year. Too much for me to go into detail about.
The state of complete satisfaction and blissful contentment is something I wish everyone would experience. I have been blessed enough to feel this way this past year and I can say it has only happened after I have submerged myself in His word/truth and sought Him out as my source of comfort and love. God is so wonderfully giving and loving. I have come to learn so much about His love and I seek so dearly to shine a light that radiates his love and kindness every day.
One of my very strong passions, that God has strengthened in me, is the message of self-worth and respect in women. I hope to speak truth in love enough for women everywhere to understand how priceless and worthy they are. We must wrap our brains around the astonishing fact that Christ created us with His own two hands, in His own image. He is perfect. He makes no mistakes. He loves you so unconditionally that no matter what your past looks like, no matter what your insides look like, no matter what your current situation looks like, He. Never. Leaves.
He sits with outstretched arms, waiting for you to come to Him. Waiting for you to put your head on His chest and cry, confessing that you are lost and need Him.
I know. I know how hard it is to tell yourself you are worth it. That you deserve love. That you are more than the ugly, bitter, degrading things others have told you or said about you. But you absolutely have to remember that the vile words others have spoken against you are lies. Lies straight from satan’s mouth. He wants you to sit and wallow in the dark, sad, and lonely world because once you have entered the cold and consuming hole the farthest thing from your mind is God’s love and comfort.
My dear lift your head. Dry your tears. Put on your crown that he has hand crafted for you and walk boldly in your beauty. Tell satan no. Ask the Lord to fill your heart with His love and grace. I know it’s hard when the world tells you that you are not enough. I know the words of being “too much” are deafening. But know this, understand that being too much and not enough are a beautiful combination. This only means that you are not satisfying to those who seek the world for approval. Your Heavenly Father has created you to be a masterpiece that only those who seek Him find alluring. You were not created to please man. If you are not accepted by society you are doing something so wonderfully right for the Lord and it does not go unnoticed.
His word is true and it is oh so good. Take His hand and dance with Him because once you hear the music the movement comes naturally. God can give you joy. He can give you this unexplainable, satisfying, and truly radiant joy and man oh man is that a thing of wonders. He will show you the way and provide you with what you need always.
So please sisters, allow Him to show you how to love yourselves. Allow Him to make known to you your worth. You deserve so much more than you credit yourself.
